Grid Excavation Method or Wheeler Kenyon Method in Archaeology

The grid excavation method, also known as the Wheeler-Kenyon method, is one of the primary excavation methods in archaeology. It is used to excavate large areas according to a grid pattern, leaving unexcavated border lines called baulks between each square in the grid system. Mortimer Wheeler invented this method of excavation in order to excavate big regions systematically and completely, and Kathleen Kenyon refined it.
