Meet Kamal
Kamal (Chanaka Kamal), the driving force behind KamalsJournal, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Archaeology from the prestigious University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Kamal is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy degree in archaeology at the same university, and his journey of curiosity continues to unfold. As a Research Associate at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Kamal works with the GCRF One Health Poultry Hub, overseen by the Royal Veterinary College, United Kingdom. He intends to bridge the gap between academia and the general public by sharing knowledge in a way that empowers curiosity and inspires understanding.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Kamal is a self-taught artist with exceptional talent for drawing and painting. His artistic journey revolves around watercolours, where he skillfully captures mesmerising scenes that leave viewers captivated. Sharing his captivating artwork on social media under the name “Paintings by Kamal,” he amazes people with his artistry, encouraging them to embrace their own creativity. According to Kamal’s artistic philosophy, he believes “anyone can paint,” advocating for the power of patience in the artistic process.
His interests encompass a diverse range of fields, including painting and sketching, pottery making, sculpting, woodworking, preindustrial craft, and technology. He He is on a quest to master these crafts and apply his skills for KamalsJournal. He intends to convey his journey in both told and untold areas.
